Education Career Action Plans
ARE YOU WONDERING ABOUT ECAP's?
In 2008, the Arizona State Board of Education approved Education and Career Action Plans (ECAP) for all Arizona students grades 9-12 (R7-2-302.05).  This Board Rule requires that we“shall complete for every student in grades 9-12 an Arizona Education and Career Action Plan” effective for the graduation class of 2013 and beyond.

Why an ECAP?
A student’s plan helps to personalize education and enables the student to maximize the opportunities available upon high school graduation.   Students, parents and school personnel can work together to develop plans that appropriately meet students’ choices for career and educational experiences.  Such plans help students identify, track and update academic, career, postsecondary and extracurricular goals and activities.  In order to appropriately track and develop such information and plan, a software platform hawill be used in SUSD.

Why an ECAP Fee of $5.00 per year?
As a graduation requirement, the ECAP serves not only to help students and parents plan appropriately for their years of high school and beyond, it also serves as an electronic portfolio which the student may use for postsecondary education and career information.  SUSD utilizes the NAVIANCE software to enter, track and update the ECAP information.  The 5.00 per student fee supports that technology.  This software, new this year, will allow students and parents access from home in order to manage the Education Career Action Plans and utilize resources and activities.
