SCC registration
IMPORTANT TESTING INFORMATION FOR SENIORS ATTENDING SCOTTSDALE COMMUNITY COLLEGE FALL 2015
 
To enroll and select classes at SCC, seniors must first set up a Student Account and complete the Online Admissions Process.  Please stop by the Saguaro Guidance Office to pick up the PINK instruction sheet for completing this process.  Once this step is complete, you can sign up in the Guidance Office to take the Placement Test that will be given on the Saguaro campus on Tuesday, April 14th from 12 noon to 3 pm in the computer lab in Room 210 by the Library.
 
SCC has set up a help session from 11 AM to 12:30 PM on Tuesday, March 31st in the computer lab in Room 210 if you need help setting up your Student Account or completing the Admissions process.  Just drop in during that time and no appointment is necessary.
The SCC Help Session scheduled for Tuesday, March 31st has been moved to Monday, March 30th at the same place and time: Computer Lab in Room 210 from 11 AM to 12:30 PM.   This has been scheduled to help seniors who plan to attend SCC in the fall to set up their Student Account and complete the Admissions process.  Seniors do not need an appointment, so stop by at the end of 4th period or during Lunch.  This has been rescheduled due to state testing on 3/31.  Please see your counselor if you have questions.

Scholarships for SCC
Scholarships for Seniors who will be attending Scottsdale Community College in the Fall of 2015
Drop by the Guidance Office today to pick up great information about scholarships for SCC and other Maricopa Community Colleges!  The deadlines for some scholarships are fast approaching at the end of this week March 22 and some deadlines fall in April, but do not delay.  If you attended the SCC Open House Field Trip for Seniors on Feb. 20th, this information was available, but extra copies are in the Guidance Office NOW or go to www.scottsdalecc.edu/admissions/financial-aid-scholarships.

Spring is here and the warm weather brings out wild life.
If you see any wild life creature, around campus, such as birds, owls, rodents, bats, snakes, etc
Please do not touch it !
Report it immediately to the main office, security, teacher, maintenance person.
Wild Life may have rabies or other infectious diseases.
An Animal may appear to be injured,or dead and if you approach it, they may attack in defense.
Please do not touch any wild life creature

What:  AHA certification class for students that are interested in pursuing a career in medicine, summer jobs (nanny/lifeguard/camp counselor) or just want to learn a life saving skill
When: ( March 19  Canceled) or April 2-open/available
Time:  2:30-5:30

Participants will learn the signs and symptoms of a heart attack, stroke, sudden cardiac arrest; how to perform CPR on adults/children/infants; how to use an AED; relief of choking and basic first aid (including allergies/Epi pens; asthma; seizures and diabetes.)  You will receive a card issued by the American Heart Assoc. which is valid for 2 years and learn how to save a life.

All Students are REQUIRED to have a parking permit displayed if you are parking
a vehicle on campus.

NO PERMIT-NO PARKING
Vehicles without a parking permit
will be tagged with the orange sticker and Administration will be notified.

SUSD Celebrates its Newest National Board Certified Teachers
National Board Certification is one of the highest achievements in the teaching profession. Recently, 15 Scottsdale Unified School District (SUSD) teachers earned this credential by completing the rigorous National Board Certified Teacher (NBCT) process and two teachers renewed their credentials. SUSD now has 89 board certified teachers.
 
The newly certified teachers are: Jackie Switalski Oates, Kiva; Darci Aronson, Redfield; Judy Droz, Cherokee; Jessica Valencia, Hohokam; Robin Wynne, Laguna; Amy Johnson, Saguaro; Casey Boerner, Chaparral; Joe Olney, Chaparral; Ted Anderson, Chaparral; Tom Roxborough, Coronado; Linda Graham, Laguna; Emily Cochran, Hopi; Diana Bode, Hopi; Debbie Hawkins, Laguna; and Jill Schadt, Cherokee. Nancy Rose, Arcadia, and Malcolm Leinwohl, Chaparral, renewed their credentials. They will be recognized at the February 10, 2015 Governing Board meeting. See NBCT

2 Saguaro Students Earn Perfect ACT Score
Two seniors from Saguaro High school have earned a top composite score of 36 on a recent ACT test. The students who earned this achievement Harrison and Jontito Casalena. “We are extremely proud that Harrison and Jontito earned this amazing achievement,” said Dr. Mitch von Gnechten, executive director of Secondary Schools.
