Safe Schools Assessment Survey Available

The Safe Schools Assessment and Resource Bank (SSARB) is a 40 item survey, from February 8 until March 3, that measures six dimensions of school climate. SUSD staff, students and parents are being asked to take this survey which takes approximately 5-7 minutes to complete. more information and links

Attention Students
 
Saguaro High School and Princeton Review are teaming up to offer a FREE, PRACTICE TEST for the SAT or the ACT  to our students on Saturday, March 20 from 8am to noon. The sign up for either the SAT or the ACT will take place in the Guidance Office at Saguaro beginning Monday, February 8.

Saguaro Choir

The Singing Sabercats had a great showing at the Regional Choir auditions on Sat.Jan. 30.  Representing Saguaro in the 100 voice choir will be soprano-Andrea Hall, altos-Nicole Nowakowski, who has the further distinction of being the 1st chair alto in the region, and Luna Chase, tenors-Luke Fazio, Henry Jetson-Burks, Harper Felsch and Doug Shumway, basses-Woody Johnston, Sam Brasen and Cameron Kelly. A special congratulations goes to Nicole Nowakowski and Henry Jetson-Burks, who both acheived a perfect score on the sight-reading portion of the audition, displaying superior musicianship!  Way to go Saguaro Choir students!



Choir Auditions

If you are interested in taking choir next year, please note that auditions for Women's and Men's Honor Choir, Voices of Saguaro and Advanced Vocal Ensemble will take place on Tuesday, Feb. 9 after school.  If you cannot make it on that day, lunch time auditions slots will also be available.  Students wishing to audition for Advanced Vocal Ensemble must prepare the song "Blue Skies."   For all of the other choirs, students must prepare the National Anthem. Lyrics are available online.  Sign up for an audition time outside room 730. See Mrs. Tutnick for music for Blue Skies, or if you have any questions.

School Rings
Balfour Traditions will be here on February 25 to speak to the Sophomores during their English Class regarding ordering School Rings. Orders for any Sophomore Ring will be taken during lunch on March 2 and parents can come that evening to place orders or get answers to your questions from 6-7 pm in the Community Conference Room next to our Cafeteria.

Feb 25, 2010- orders forms given to all Soph to purchase a school ring
Mar 2, 2010 - orders can be dropped off during lunch outside (depending on weather) the Community Confr Room

SPI (Scottsdale Prevention Institute) is running a Study Skills group on Wednesday mornings from 7:30 AM to 8 AM in the Guidance Office conference room.  Students who are interested just need to come and sign up.  Michelle Serries will be running this for the rest of the school year.

FREE & REDUCED LUNCH PROGRAM
Did you know that the National School Lunch Program (NSLP) / School Breakfast Program (SBP) can be applied for at ANY TIME during the school year? If your family has been faced with one of the following situations since you first applied, your eligibility for your child/children MAY have changed.

· Loss of a job
· Reduction of hours resulting in less income
· Family member with income has moved from your house
· You have added to your family size
· You have lost your home
· You have applied for and received cash assistance or food stamps

If you have never applied, but these situations apply to you, then please consider applying for the program.  ·Applications are available at your school’s office, cafeteria and the Ed Center
